The Japan eVisa Application is an online process available to eligible foreign nationals residing in designated countries and regions. Applicants must hold an ordinary passport and generally travel to Japan by air or by an eligible international scheduled passenger ferry. The online application requires personal details, passport information, travel plans, and supporting documents. Applicants may also need to pay the applicable visa fee through the online system where payment is available. Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns applicants to use the official eVisa website and avoid fraudulent websites. If incorrect information or incomplete documents are submitted, the application may be delayed or cancelled. The eVisa currently covers single-entry short-term tourism, generally for stays of up to 90 days.
